WHO IS THIS FOR

  • Supervisors, team leads and project owners

  • Employees who coordinate tasks and timelines with others

  • HR and operations staff handling workload issues

THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF...

  • Colleagues often raise workload or deadline concerns with you

  • You want to respond without defensiveness or overpromising

  • You want to stay calm and protect your well-being

RATIONALE

When someone raises a concern about a task, deadline or workload, the response decides whether they keep speaking up. Defensive or dismissive replies increase stress and silence, especially in hierarchical workplaces. Participants learn to receive concerns with active listening, understand the pressure behind them, explore options together and agreerealistic next steps, while staying regulated themselves.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognise the stress and needs behind concerns about tasks, timelines and workload

  2. Listen actively and respond without defensiveness, using LOOK-LISTEN-LINK

  3. Use the Job Demands-Resources model to understand what is driving workload strain

  4. Prioritise and renegotiate tasks and timelines using the Eisenhower Matrix

  5. Explore solutions and agree next steps using the S.E.A.T and GROW models

  6. Stay regulated, protect their own well-being and know when to escalate

Models and frameworks: LOOK-LISTEN-LINK (WHO PFA) · S.E.A.T model · Job Demands-Resources model (Bakker & Demerouti) · Eisenhower Matrix · GROW (Whitmore)

WHY THIS COURSE, WHY NOW

Workload, unclear roles and time pressure are among the most common sources of workplace stress, and ISO 45003 names them as psychosocial risks. Most communication training focuses on raising issues, not on responding to them well.

What sets it apart: Focuses on the response side of work conversations, combining PFA with practical prioritisation and coaching tools so concerns are resolved without sacrificing well-being.

BENEFITS FOR INDIVIDUALS

  • Confidence to respond without defensiveness

  • Practical tools to prioritise and renegotiate

  • Protection of their own well-being

BENEFITS FOR YOUR ORGANISATION

  • Concerns raised and resolved earlier

  • Fewer missed deadlines and escalations

  • Teams that keep speaking up

WHY ORGANISATIONS CHOOSE IT

  • Relevant to every team, not just managers

  • Small classes (16 pax) for real practice

  • Also part of a WSQ programme from Q1 2027
