WHO IS THIS FOR
-
Peer supporters and Well-being First Responders
-
HR professionals and well-being champions
-
Supervisors in high-stress environments. Best taken after Foundational PFA.
THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF...
-
You have basic PFA skills and want to handle harder situations (complex reactions)
-
You worry about responding to self-harm or suicide-related disclosures
-
You need clarity on when and how to escalate
RATIONALE
Supporters trained only in basics can freeze or overreach when a disclosure turns serious. This course extends PFA to trauma reactions, grief, anxiety and panic, self-harm indicators and suicide risk, practising trauma-informed listening and ethical escalation through realistic scenarios, all within clear non-clinical boundaries.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
-
Understand psychological distress as a continuum
-
Distinguish stress, anxiety, panic, trauma, grief, self-harm and suicide risk
-
Recognise early warning signs of workplace distress
-
Apply WHO LOOK-LISTEN-LINK within non-clinical boundaries
-
Escalate concerns appropriately to protect safety
WHY THIS COURSE, WHY NOW
Organisations that appoint peer supporters carry a duty of care to prepare them for serious disclosures. Many workplace programmes stop short of suicide awareness, leaving supporters unsure what to do when it matters most
What sets it apart: Suicide awareness and self-harm covered in a workplace, non-clinical frame and how to support as a PFA Provider.
